PHP Editors

Notepad++ -  a free and excellent source code editor

Emeditor – Commercial text editor

Ultraedit – Commercial text editor

FTP

Filezilla – Open source FTP program – very simple, small footprint compared to ws-ftp

Winscp – WinSCP is an open source free SFTP client and FTP client for Windows. Its main function is safe copying of files between a local and a remote computer

Ws-ftp – Commercial FTP program by Ipswitch
Graphics

Irfanview – (free but rules exist for commercial use – see the site) program that allows you to view many types of graphics (images) and convert/resize them to other formats

GIMP – GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.

Swish -  a cheaper alternative to Macromedia’s Flash program – now also has a ‘light’ version

Programming Tools

Regexbuddy – Useful tool for sorting out regular expression headaches (fee-based software)

Site Monitor

Sitemaps

XML_Sitemaps.com – Create an XML sitemap that can be submitted to Google, Yahoo and other search engines to help them crawl your website better. Create a Text sitemap to have a plain list of all your pages. Create a ROR sitemap, which is an independant XML format for any search engine. Generate an HTML site map to allow human visitors to easily navigate on your site

SSH

PuTTY – PuTTY is a free implementation of Telnet and SSH for Win32 and Unix platforms, along with an xterm terminal emulator

Text Search/Replacement/File Comparison

Wingrep – Unix-style text search and replace utility

Winmerge – Open Source – allows you to compare differences in files
